Differences among Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, li-polymer Battery and Ternary Lithium Battery
Release Time: 2022-05-31
Just as the engine is considered when buying a car, the main consideration when buying a power supply is the battery core, which is the storage part of this power supply battery. The quality of the battery cell directly determines the quality of the battery, which in turn determines the quality of the power supply. In addition, it is also a guarantee of safety. The battery can realize overcurrent protection, overcharge protection, overdischarge protection, short-circuit protection, over-power protection, over-temperature protection, etc. Good batteries have long service life, stable performance and safety.
Today, we know the difference between the following three batteries: lithium iron phosphate battery, li-polymer battery and ternary lithium battery. Battery life, charging and discharging of electric vehicles; All applications of outdoor power supply are inextricably linked with the function of batteries. At present, lithium iron phosphate battery, li-polymer battery and ternary lithium battery are widely used in the market, and each of the three batteries has its own characteristics.
Differences among Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, li-polymer Battery and Ternary Lithium Battery
I. li-polymer
Li-polymer generally refers to polymer lithium ion battery. The anode and cathode data used in li-polymer are the same as those of liquid lithium ion. The anode data are divided into lithium cobaltate, lithium manganate, ternary data and Ferrous lithium phosphate data. The cathode is graphite, and the battery operation principle is also common. The principle of li-polymer is the same as that of liquid lithium, but the primary difference is that electrolyte is different from liquid lithium. The primary structure of the battery includes three elements: positive electrode, negative electrode and electrolyte. The so-called polymer lithium ion battery means that at least one or more of the three primary structures use polymer materials as the primary battery system. However, in the polymer lithium-ion battery system developed now, polymer materials are mainly applied to the positive electrode and electrolyte.
Advantages of li-polymer
1. The operating voltage of single battery is as high as 3.6v~3.8v, which is much higher than the 1.2V voltage of Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries.
2. The capacity density is high, and its capacity density is 1.5~2.5 times that of Ni-MH battery or Ni-Cd battery, perhaps higher.
3. The self-discharge is small, and the capacity loss is also small after being placed for a long time.
4. Long life span, and its circulation life span can reach more than 500 times when it is used normally.
5. No memory effect, no need to empty the remaining power before charging, and easy to use.
6. Good safety function. li-polymer uses aluminum-plastic flexible packaging in structure, which is different from the metal shell of liquid battery. Once there is a potential safety hazard, the liquid battery is easy to explode, while the polymer battery will only blow up at most.
7. The thickness is small, and it can be made thinner. Ultra-thin, batteries can be assembled into credit cards. Ordinary liquid lithium batteries choose the method of customizing the shell first, and then stuffing the positive and negative information. There is a skill bottleneck when the thickness is less than 3.6mm, while polymer batteries do not have this problem, and the thickness can be less than 1mm, which is in line with the current demand direction of mobile phones.
8. Light weight. The battery with polymer electrolyte does not need a metal shell as a protective outer package. The weight of the polymer battery is 40% lighter than that of the standard lithium battery with the same capacity, and 20% lighter than that of the aluminum battery.
9. Large capacity. Polymer batteries have a capacity of 10 ~ 15% higher than that of steel batteries of the same standard, and 5 ~ 10% higher than that of aluminum batteries, making them the first choice for color screen mobile phones and MMS mobile phones. Now, most of the new color screen and MMS mobile phones on the market also use polymer batteries.
10. Low internal resistance
The internal resistance of polymer batteries is smaller than that of general liquid batteries. Now the internal resistance of domestic polymer batteries can even be below 35 mω, which greatly reduces the self-consumption of batteries, prolongs the standby time of mobile phones, and can reach the level of international standards. This kind of polymer lithium battery, which supports large discharge current, is an ideal choice for remote control model, and has become the most promising product to replace Ni-MH battery.
1. the shape can be customized
Manufacturers are not limited to standard shapes, but can make them into suitable sizes economically. Li-polymer can add or reduce the thickness of battery cells according to customers' needs, and develop new battery cell types. The price is cheap and the mold opening period is short, and some can even be tailored according to the shape of mobile phones, so as to make full use of the space of battery case and improve the battery capacity.
